GOOD OMENS: David Tennant Starts Work On New Series With First Read Through Today

David Tennant starts work on the BBC / Amazon production Good Omens today with a read through of the first three episodes in London. The fantasy comedy has been adapted by Neil Gaiman from the much loved novel that he co-authored with the late Terry Pratchett.

David Tennant plays the fast-living demon Crowley with Michael Sheen as his fussy angelic counterpart Aziraphale in the six part series set on the verge of the Apocalypse. According to The Nice And Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, (the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies) the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. The Divine Plan is in place and the armies of Good and Evil are amassing. But Crowley and Aziraphale, who have been living among Earth's mortals since the Beginning, have grown rather fond of the place and even have a loose arrangement in place to maintain their current comfortable lifestyles. So, they're not looking forward to the coming war. To stop it they just need to find the Antichrist.
If only someone hadn't mislaid him...

David Tennant spoke recently of his casting, saying, “Michael Sheen, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett and directed by Douglas Mackinnon, it’s a dream team and a dream gig. I am very excited that I’ve been asked to be part of this amazing project. Bring on the Apocalypse!”

Meanwhile Michael Sheen tweeted a photo of himself with a striking new hairdo:

The news that the series was finally moving into production after many years of planning was, however, somewhat bittersweet for fans of the book and its writers, as Neil Gaiman expressed in a single tweet, "Amazing crew. Glorious cast. And all I can think is of Terry Pratchett. I think "why aren't you here to see this?" And my eyes get wet."
